Select’ Quincy Jones Music, Publishing and NIL Assets Acquired by HarbourView

The HarbourView Equity Partners investment has acquired “select music and non-music assets” from the Estate of Quincy Jones, one of the most legendary producers, composers and creators of the last 75 years.

In other Michael Jackson related news, large swaths of the Quincy Jones Estate has been sold to an investment firm. This includes a chunk of Michael Jackson properties that Mr. Jones had a part in creating.

This includes Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad. This is a sunnier story as everyone including his daughter Rashida Jones is in agreement.

The Quincy Jones Estate will likely benefit from these transactions. There will be a connection forever to the music that Jones crafted over the years.

His musical capacity surpassed many other performers, earning an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar®, and a Tony) for his efforts in his ninety years on the planet.

With this sale, Harbourview will be enabled to control his largest investments. In all the various musical pieces that he made, the theme from Sanford and Son and “Soul Bossa Nova” will register with those who have survived him.

It appears the investment company will be a great steward over his songs if people want to use them in commercial, film, and TV shows among other media.

It’s also apparent that there will be a new wave of artists that will be inspired by Mr. Jones’ catalogue.

As this sale takes off, only good vibes and a greater thought process for creating new music will be in the hands of the equity partners.

This is the beauty of how art and commerce come together here. The making of money had to be at the forefront of the drive for the master instrumentalist, arranger, and producer. To consider the successes he fostered in other people’s careers has to be stated. Not only Michael but Ludacris. Not only the score for The Wiz, but for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

His talent loomed large over the industry. He used his self-driven potential to propel himself in the face of adversity like taking an ice pick to the head.

He has provided the equity company with so much quality material that they will enjoy housing some of the finest works ever produced by one man. With the team, the Jones family doesn’t have to worry about there being an issue with the money getting funny.

Instead, they will look forward to all the ways people will look to sample and remix the hits made by Quincy. If there is any discrepancy, the Estate can go to Harbourview and hash out any of the details. They can see what properties will be used by whom.

In a world where IP and NIL are of primary concern, we must remember that both are still intellectual property because they are products or reflections of the mind as Miss Ayn Rand once said.

The best part of it may be the expectancy for up and coming artists to develop and then use Mr. Jones’ music to their advantage. Those chunks of Michael Jackson’s works go onto present what it means to make something from what Quincy built. As he presented to the world a specific idealism, he charted a new course for being a worthy artist.

Harbour ought to be able to handle these publishing rights with care. There should be no reason for them to fumble any bags or discourage anyone from employing the musical stylings.

To consider the vast amount of work that Mr. Jones put in over his life and career, it should be no surprise that his works have found a new home. It shows that a man of color in America made it and has passed down his legacy for future generations to follow.

That is the hallmark of what it means to have been truly great.
